CSSC Wärtsilä Engine (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., was established in July, 2014. The joint venture owned 49/51 by Wärtsilä Corporation and CSSC GROUP with a registered capital of RMB270 million.

CWEC, located in Lingang Shanghai, covers an area of 70000m2 and has the production capacity of 180 engines per year, specializing in manufactures medium speed engines to serve the dominant Chinese shipbuilding industry. The product range covers Wärtsilä 26, Wärtsilä 32, Wartsila Auxpac 32 and Wärtsilä 46 series of medium speed engines & Generating sets and Wartsila 34DF, Wartsila 46DF Dual Fuel Engine for offshore projects, LNG and large containers with the power range of 2000-24590kW. The factory is the first in China capable of producing locally large bore medium speed diesel and dual fuel engines. The production was started and first engines delivered at the end of 2016.
